Dax on Growth Path
In the current earnings season, the Dax shows a positive trend on Wednesday, bolstered by initial signs of easing in the Iran conflict. An hour before trading begins, the X-Dax signaled an increase of 0.79 percent to 24,595 points, suggesting that the index could build on the strong performance of the previous day. Chart-wise, after breaking through the resistance zone, the Dax may have the potential to rise further towards the April high of nearly 24,800 points.
Geopolitical Developments
U.S. President Donald Trump is pursuing a de-escalation strategy in the conflict with Iran to achieve diplomatic progress. On his platform Truth Social, he unexpectedly announced that the recently initiated U.S. deployment to ensure safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would be „paused for a short time.“ During this pause, it will be assessed whether a comprehensive agreement with Iran is possible. Trump emphasized that there have been „great strides“ towards a „comprehensive and final“ agreement. The upcoming meeting between China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Iranian counterpart could also provide new momentum in this conflict.
AI Boom
Another driver of the stock markets, particularly in the U.S. and Asia, remains the unbroken boom of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The technology index Nasdaq 100 and the broad market S&P 500 reached new record levels the day before, indicating that the markets continue to celebrate the AI theme as a significant growth story. Stephen Innes of SPI Asset Management comments that the bond market, on the other hand, is keeping an eye on the high debts incurred for investments in these technologies.
Asia and the Global Market
Geopolitical risks seem to be quickly priced in Asia, reflected in the rise of South Korea’s leading index Kospi, which has reached a record high due to the recent de-escalation in the Iran conflict. The global AI boom has also boosted the stock prices of chip manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Infineon. The latter has raised its forecast but was unable to record further gains on Tradegate on Wednesday after a previous price rally.
Earnings Season in Germany
In Germany, seven Dax companies are set to present their quarterly results mid-week: Fresenius, Heidelberg Materials, Daimler Truck, Continental, BMW, Infineon, and Zalando. Numerous earnings reports are also expected from the MDax and SDax. Pre-market shows mixed reactions: while Daimler Truck’s shares slightly declined, Zalando exhibited a positive trend with a 4 percent increase on Tradegate. The online retailer benefited from the acquisition of About You, which led to significant increases in revenue and operating profit. Additionally, Zalando was able to capitalize on the use of Artificial Intelligence.
Conclusion
The markets seem to look optimistically towards the future, driven by both geopolitical easing and the innovative power spurred by the AI boom. Investors should closely monitor developments in the earnings season, as they may provide crucial insights into the future competitiveness and shareholder value of the companies.
