Deutsche Bahn startet Sofortprogramm zur Verbesserung der Kundenkommunikation
Investments in the Future of Customer Communication
Deutsche Bahn aims to significantly improve communication with its passengers during train journeys. CEO Evelyn Palla will present a new immediate program in the morning, which is part of a comprehensive package of measures to enhance the travel experience. This is the third and final package responding to the challenges of delays, train cancellations, and platform changes.
Previously, two programs were initiated focusing on safety and cleanliness at stations as well as comfort in long-distance trains. To increase the sense of security among travelers, the railway plans to enhance the presence of security personnel at many stations. Additionally, more cleaning staff will be hired to ensure the cleanliness of the stations. A notable step is the doubling of the number of stations receiving a spring cleaning – from 700 to about 1,400.
Focus on Comfort and Reliability
Regarding comfort on trains, Deutsche Bahn will invest an additional 20 million euros annually. These funds are intended to improve the quality of onboard restaurants and enhance the availability of essential facilities such as toilets and coffee machines. Moreover, the cleaning staff on trains will be doubled to ensure a higher standard.
With the new immediate program, customer communication takes center stage in the efforts. Palla emphasized back in March how important it is to inform passengers promptly and accurately about schedule deviations. „Especially with many schedule deviations, it is crucial that we keep our passengers well-informed and have current, reliable, and consistent data across various customer channels,“ she explained.
Artificial Intelligence as the Key to Improvement
An innovative approach to improving customer communication will be the use of Artificial Intelligence. Particularly concerning delay forecasts, Palla sees potential for optimizations. Currently, travelers are often faced with changing forecasts that are updated during the journey, leading to confusion and uncertainty.
Despite these measures, the issue of punctuality remains. Palla has already made it clear that it could take years for Deutsche Bahn’s trains to achieve reliable punctuality again. This poses a challenge for the company’s competitiveness and could prompt potential investors to evaluate the long-term impacts on shareholder value. According to Eulerpool data, the ability to strengthen customer trust could be crucial for the railway’s future market position.
