Renk profitiert vom Rüstungsboom: Rekordaufträge und Umsatzsteigerung im ersten Quartal

Renk on the Rise from Defense Orders

The gearbox manufacturer Renk benefited in the first quarter of 2023 from the ongoing defense boom driven by geopolitical tensions and increased defense spending in many countries. In particular, the demand for tank gearboxes for NATO programs and the Puma tank of the Bundeswehr has led to a significant increase in order intake. According to company information, this rose by 6.1 percent compared to the previous year’s quarter, reaching a record value of around 582 million euros. This marks the best start to the year in Renk’s history and impressively demonstrates the positive development in a strategically important sector.

With a backlog of approximately 6.9 billion euros, Renk is excellently positioned to benefit from future orders and the growing demand in the defense industry. The stability and growth in this segment could be decisive factors for shareholder value, as they not only secure revenues but also strengthen investor confidence.

Revenue and Earnings Increase

In line with the increase in order intake, Renk also recorded a revenue increase of 4 percent, resulting in total revenue of nearly 284 million euros. Particularly noteworthy is the adjusted earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), which climbed by 10.4 percent to 42.4 million euros. The EBIT margin improved from 14.1 percent to 15.0 percent, highlighting the efficiency and profitability of the company.

The company also reported a net profit of 15.4 million euros, compared to only 0.8 million euros in the previous year. These positive figures exceeded analysts‘ expectations and demonstrate Renk’s strong operational performance in a challenging market environment.

Outlook and Confirmation of Annual Targets

Renk has also confirmed its annual targets, which is a sign of stability and confidence in the company’s future development for investors. Revenue is expected to continue rising to over 1.5 billion euros, with analysts forecasting average revenues of 1.56 billion euros. The adjusted operating result (EBIT) is expected to be between 255 and 285 million euros, with market expectations around 275 million euros.

Overall, Renk shows that it is capable of capitalizing on the current market changes and continues to act innovatively. The positive development in the first quarter could thus not only promote the company’s growth but also enhance competitiveness and location attractiveness in the European defense sector.
